About the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Artway
The Artways are a place of retreat, renewal and beauty. Patients and family members, visitors and staff "visit" the Artways to reflect, "get away" and enjoy the monthly exhibits.

The Artways help the hospital achieve our vision of the "healthiest community" by contributing to our overall sense of well-being. They validate our wholeness and humanity, even in an "institutional" setting.

The Artways also allow us to get in touch with each other and link with the community.

The main Artway is located in the first floor of the hospital, off the lobby. Artway on Two is located on the second floor, in the ramp way leading to the Family Centre, in the Maternal Child Unit. Artway Three is located in the Joseph Brant Community Health Centre, on the lower level of The Brant Centre, adjacent to the hospital.

For the artists, the opportunity to install a solo show has been a significant, even moving, experience. The Artways have provided recognition, visibility, and an ability to expand their networks. Some of the artists have become active hospital volunteers: offering to paint murals in patient care units of the hospital; involving themselves in hospital activities; contributing their art to enhance hospital communications materials and benefit fundraising campaigns, auctions and draws.

While the Artways were not developed as a fundraising initiative, artists are asked to donate 10 per cent of the total sale proceeds back to the hospital. The artists feel that they are "giving back" in return for the exposure and the experience.

How to Book a Monthly Exhibit
Joseph Brant welcomes both new and established artists to display their framed art in these venues. Artists may contact the department of Corporate Communications at 905-632-3737 ext. 5516, click on online form to book online or e-mail artways@jbmh.com. While the Artways were not developed as a fundraiser, artists do support hospital needs by donating a nominal percentage of their sale proceeds back to Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital.
