Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Accessibility

In the coming decades, people with a disability will comprise a larger percentage of the population in Canada than ever before. According to Statistics Canada, over 4 million Canadians report some level of disability that poses a unique problem to their health. It is estimated that this number will increase by 20 per cent in the next two decades.

The purpose of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) is to improve opportunities for people with a disability and to provide for their involvement in the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to their full participation in the life of the province.
