Redevelopment Plan

	Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital is embarking on the biggest redevelopment in its history. The population of Burlington and its surrounding area is quickly increasing and aging. Our health care needs are growing and our hospital is feeling the pressure. The expansion and renewal plans for Joseph Brant will mark the first major change to the hospital's physical footprint since the 1970s. This is a huge undertaking that will greatly benefit the health of our community for years to come.
Our challenge in 2009 is once again to ask the community to rally behind our need to bring our hospital into the 21st century. Total projected cost for this redevelopment is over $300 million for the first phase. We are asking for your help in raising $120 million for the local share. The hospital made a formal request to the city of Burlington to invest $60 million, as their civic contribution toward the local share. On Tuesday, December 8 Burlington City Council voted unanimously to support our request. We have an opportunity to build history together. The ability to leave our mark on the future of health care in our community is within our reach. Together we can make this happen.
